Jan, a nurse, has rebuilt his life in Greenland with his wife and two children. He has fled an incestuous past, which resurfaces when his dying father starts writing to him. Engulfed in a spiral of torment, Jan becomes a true Kalak, a “dirty Greenlander”.

A fragmented tale of a damaged man reproducing cycles of violence and domination, both sexual and colonial, Kalak brilliantly tackles the thorny issues of trauma and catharsis. Featuring unpredictable key scenes, this second feature plunges us into the heart of a wildly complex character, both victim and executioner, played by the incredible Emil Johnsen.
